Relax Outside With The Right Patio Furniture

outdoor-furnishings-chandlerSpending time outside in the fresh air and nature is a relaxing and refreshing experience. Being able to spend this time right at home on comfortable and stylish patio furniture is the best way to experience the outdoors in comfort. The type of patio furniture that is chosen for an outside seating area can create the perfect environment and feel for the area. Popular choices for outside seating are wicker, plastic, and metal.

Wicker
Wicker furniture is normally integrated into an enclosed patio space. The materials that this type of furniture is manufactured from are usually an all natural material such as rattan, bamboo, or some other pliable and bendable wood source. These materials need to have a minor amount of maintenance each season to keep the materials moisturized and strong. If these natural products dry out, they have a tendency to become brittle and break easily.

Plastic
For durability, plastic offers years of use for a minimal price. Plastics can be designed and formed easily into many different styles and colors. This type of patio furniture is durable when left out and exposed to the elements. However, if these furnishings are left in the elements for years, the plastic does discolor and become weaker. This plastic material will break under extreme stress which may pose a safety concern. Plastic furnishings are often very lightweight and are designed to be stacked easily so they take up minimal storage space.

Metal
The strongest and longest lasting of patio furnishings have metal construction. Metals hold up to the elements for a longer period of time when maintained properly. Metal surfaces need to be coated with a rust resistant paint or primer to prolong the life of the furniture. Metal furniture is prone to rusting and is best if it is stored in the months that it is not being used. The strong structure of the metal furniture makes it less likely to be bent or broken from use. Metal furniture can also be designed into interesting and beautiful creations of outdoor furniture and accessories.

When it comes to relaxing outside, there is no better place to be than a beautiful outdoor patio. Whether the choice be natural wood, plastic, or metal, patio furniture can liven up a bland outdoor space. Choosing the right type of furnishings for a patio can take it from an eyesore to the place everyone wants to be.

Cast Iron Patio Furniture

What type of patio furniture should I buy. I do not spending more for quality? Cast Iron? Resin Wicker? or? I have cast iron, aluminum and resin wicker on my patio. The cast iron is heavy, needs to be re-painted and rust proofed every couple of years but it is a lifetime purchase. I can and have changed the look many times over the last 8 years. The resin wicker is very inexpensive, easy to clean, lightweight and easy to move.

You can also change the look with different cushions and it can be painted with the new one. My least favorite is my aluminum furniture. Contrary to popular opinion, it does rust especially at the joints. I have painted it several times and nothing seems to stick well to it for a long time before it starts peeling and flaking. It is, however, the least expensive option. Don’t plan on it lasting a lifetime.

When I think of wrought iron, I always have images of those gigantic outdoor benches. They always seemed to be found in botanical gardens. Sometimes these benches were black and sometimes green but almost always seemed to have the same shape and the exact same design on them. Wrought iron also brings to mind, those creepy gates found surrounding many buildings. They have come a very long way since the manufacturing of those benches. Now wrought iron can be found just about everywhere. Take pub tables for instance, they are not just made out of metal or wood anymore. You can now find some of the most beautiful wrought iron pub tables. With there intricate bends and twists, these really are a work of art. Not only are these tables beautiful to look at, they are functional as well. Some of these tables can be used for indoor or outdoor use, allowing you to jazz up any area of your home. These tables come in a variety of shapes and colors. The tops of these wrought iron pub tables vary from wood to marble or glass.

Glass tables tops are wonderful because they allow you to see the architectural design of the iron and it does not take away from the beauty of the table. Another wonderful function of these tables is their stability, no need to worry about wobbley legs. These tables are made to last and can be passed on from generation to generation.

Porch Swings Why Are They So Popular as Garden Furniture Sets

Swinging on the porch swing outside, sipping on some lemonade, and enjoying a good book can be one of the most relaxing experiences of the summer. Porch swings are extremely iconic for many different reasons ranging from their versatility to their comfort.

Porch swings can be hung from a variety of different areas including strong tree branches, the roof of a deck, or from a stand. Before making any porch swing purchase, you can save yourself a lot of frustration and money by being sure there is enough room for the swing.

A porch swing will need room not only for the length of the swing but also for the swinging motion. Hitting surfaces with a porch swing can cause a lot of damage and marks, especially with wooden porch swings.

Most porch swings can be purchased to include a frame or base, but there are also options available for buying a separate frame. A frame or base is the preferred option for hanging a swing because it will reduce the risk of your porch swing falling and getting damaged due to weak surfaces. A frame is also the most popular option because they allow your swing to move from one side of the yard or deck to the other with ease and you are not committed to the original spot you placed it in. It is also easier to move when mowing the lawn or doing other work in the yard.
